Thumbs up Just downloaded Rob Meldrum's free Mandolin set-up book

While my mandolin is well set-up, the book provides a wealth of information I will eventually put to good use. It is particularly recommended for anyone who bought a very inexpensive instrument and wants to get more sound and better intonation out of it. Part of encouraging a new player is having that rewarding sound.

    NFI.

If you want a copy, you can email Rob at rob.meldrum@gmail.com and use the subject line Mandolin Book.

Reminds me of those old tv commercials for the Elvis in Hollywood book. They used to build up the product like it was the second bible and then have an announce cut in: "To order, send check to Pressley Book, PO Box..."

Not the bible, of course, or even the Elvis book, but very useful.

Ditto! The info helped me turn a barely playable Rogue A into a enjoyably playable and usable instrument.

That's cool. My mando was set-up well by the Mandolin Store, but I understand it's an issue with the lower cost mandolins. I know from being a student violin player as a kid that the playability of your instrument can make a real difference in whether you stick with it.

True, I got a Loar LM310f from the same place and the setup was very good. Over time I did a little tweeking but trying different strings often requires that.
