    Default Nitrocellulose safe instrument stands

Looking for recommendations- do you have a favorite stand that won't damage nitrocellulose lacquer?

Get a Hamilton and then buy the soft fuzzy bra that goes over the forks. Foolproof. It will last about thirty years too.

I got a few small indentations on the neck of a nitro-finished mandolin from simply leaving it in the stand. I cut up a polishing cloth (or old t-shirt would be fine too) and wrapped it around the forks then put a piece of tape on the back to hold in place - hasn't made a mark on other mandos since. cheap and easy solution for any stand

Furry fabric cut and sewn into a U shape to fit over the U where the instrument hangs from. They have velcro sewn in to keep it in place.

I've used Hamilton KB-38 stands for 30+ years, virtually all with lacquered instruments and never any hint of damage.

So, is this something you made? I can't say that I've ever seen one for sale.

    Thanks.

Gryphon has about ten of them. I don't know if it was a Hamilton accessory or not. Under $10. Probably nothing to worry about with the regular stand though, just extra insurance. Bought one with my first Hamilton stand decades ago, and another recently.
