    Default Insomniacs? Asians?

"There are currently 1797 users online. 90 members and 1707 guests
Most users ever online was 11,326, May-25-2019 at 4:28am."

This always puzzles me, as most Mandolin Cafe users seem to be North Americans, so wouldn't be more than three hours off my time zone -- please correct me if I'm wrong. What was keeping everyone awake on May 25, 2019? Free coffee samples in the mail?
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

Maybe most posts are from North Americans; all users online aren't necessarily posting. (?)

If "most users ever online" counts "guests" as well as members who are actually logged in, then it's possible many of those "guests" are not human, and instead might be search engines and other bots trawling for information. Bots don't care what time it is. If the stats only count registered members, then yeah... there's some pretty strong Java being consumed out there!

P.S. if that 4:28 timestamp was auto-adjusted to your local Ottawa time zone, it would be 1:28 out here on the West Coast of Canada and USA. Still pretty late, but not that drastic.

The numbers of users (1707) is only 15% of the peak value (11,326), and there are more folks online right now as I write (over 2000). Also, consider that quite a number of users log on from Europe, which is 9 hours ahead of me here in California. Finally, mandolinists who perform music at bars in the evenings tend to be up a lot later than many of us. So no, I don't find the number of users at 4:28AM -- in Ottawa -- very surprising at all.

As a gigging musician, I frequently get home late and can't just fall asleep. I try not to post late, as my "cafe correctness filter" doesn't work well when inhibitions are lowered

Everyone's taking my query (OP) awfully seriously. Where are all the Mandolin Cafe smart alecks when I'm looking for them?

Threads almost never go as expected it may seem like it for the first few posts then something triggers something else and the tangents are acquired!

    Celebrating???

May 25, 1803: Birthday, Ralph Waldo Emerson

Also on that date in 1720: The Ship "Le Grand St Antoine" reaches Marseille, bringing Europe's last major plague outbreak. Kills around 100,000.

I'm sure I was up for one of these...

I was celebrating my former wife's birthday and invited a whole bunch of friends for a party in the back room of the Cafe. Forgive me if I forgot to invite you, I meant to.

I can't be there for that all the time. Sometimes, I have to attend a session and actually play (and afterwards instantly fall asleep).
