    Default Sounds descriptions

Can someone explain what the description of different sounds mean, e.g. woody etc. Thanks

I think of woody as related to the sound of hitting 2 sticks together. That characteristic sound of wood. Playing mandolin is clearly not the same as banging the top with a stick, but you can get a similar feel from a "woody" sounding mandolin.

I grow and sell organic veggies...try describing nuanced carrot or heirloom tomato flavors! It's very subjective.

For mandolins I've always thought of Tone in terms of fat or thin, smooth or harsh, big or tight, jangly or buttery.
    Good luck!
Two categories of descriptor are enough...like it, don't like it.

My mandolin is crisp as a carrot, sweet as a tomato, with a creamy avocado base.

Maybe opposites help. Woody vs. Brassy.

Gotta play a lot of mandolins
