    Default First Jam Session.

We haven't met yet. I suggested brunch or lunch or dinner or ANYTHING because we've been trying g to work something out for a couple months.

She suggested the celtic jam session near her location. "You could bring your mandolin!"

How could I say no? Now, I wouldn't go so far as to suggest I am in any way accomplished.

Still don't know my chords. Don't know what key anything is played in.

I just need some words of encouragement

The real question is, how long do you have until the jam? Quickly learning the 14 basic major and minor chords is not really very difficult, and that will get you a long way in a loose jam. Once you have learned the chords, and can recognize them when you see somebody else playing them, you will be able to easily find the key, and follow along with any basic song, even if you have never heard it before. Relax, learn, practice and when you get to the jam freely admit that you are a little behind the curve - everything will be okay.

Lol, sorry, the jam is today :D

I've tried briefly several times to learn chords. I've convinced myself over the years that my fingers don't do that :/

She tells me it's just for fun for all skill levels. She doesn't play anything at all!

    We'll see lol!

You'll be fine... can you at least do 2 finger chords? They are all super easy: https://www.mandolessons.com/beginne...-first-chords/

Basic "in key" info to know.

    Key of G: chords to know: G, C, D
    Key of D:... D, G, A
    Key of A:... A, D, E

That would probably cover you for most songs it a Celtic Jam... other great thing is that there are always people willing to help you at most jams.

You'll probably get brownie points for being adventurous or brave in spite you of your difficulties.
