Default Is this a "crap" shoot?

    Hi everyone.
I think I might know the answer to this, but I'm wondering if it's worth the chance.
A certain big box retailer is offering a particular mandolin I've always wanted (KM 855 Artist Bella Voce) for 0% for 36 months. That's $50.00 per month - no interest.
However , we all know that the likelyhood of getting a properly set-up Pac Rim mandolin is, as indicated above, a "crap" shoot. Maybe, maybe not.
Anybody think it's worth the risk? Quick edit - forgot to add that their "sister store" would do a set-up, if needed, probably for free but definitely for $50.00 dollars. Hmmmm...There happens to be one within driving distance.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Here is just an idea: Why not call The Mandolin Store and ask Dennis if he can match that. Maybe he cant and I'd understand but doesn't hurt to ask.
No matter where I go, there I am...Unless I'm running a little late.

THAT indeed has crossed my mind. Thanks.

No crap shoot at all. It's a sure thing to need a setup, and not from a big box guitar tech. That mandolin might be worth a level and crown as well.

Yep those big box stores in my experience nothing comes set-up! My friend a bit over a year ago bought a newer Strat from a Guitar Center and it came to him unplayable, He couldn't figure it out so I took it for a few days and had to adjust the neck and each string saddle, up and back, it took hours to get it right and even than the tuners were cheap and slipping so I told him get some quality tuners! It was a nice all black Mexican made strat-sounded pretty sweet when I was done with it but man, I don't like fooling with electrics!

My first good mandolin I bought came from Musicians friend a old F5-G Gibson, it was terrible when I got it but after some proper bridge work it was great.
Its worth getting something that comes half way set-up decent or the way you like it IMHO.

Yep, upon further thought I absolutely agree. Re-thinking the whole she-bang.

    Hi all.
Can't say what was running through my mind, but, as usual, the good people here helped unclog the thought.
Despite the attractive financial offer, flat-out not worth it.
    Thanks a million to all.

Have a great day, happy playing!
