Sad news, condolences to his family. Al custom built a marvelous case for my Loar F-5, complete with a requested face plate.

Thanks for the post, the man changed the way we judge cases with an innovative design that was fitting for our prized instruments. RIP

The best part of buying a Calton was the conversation with Al. Those conversations and the followup emails were treasures. My thoughts go out to Trudy and the rest of the family. Thanks for all the smiles and laughs ... oh yeah ... and the cases.

RIP, my mandolin has resided in one of his cases almost all its life.

Don’t want to disrespect Al Williams in any way but I thought the founder of Calton Cases was Keith Calton? He built my first one in 1976 and retired a couple of years ago.

Ray, I suspect internet abbreviating. Al was the founder of Calton Cases in Canada. He was responsible for taking Keith's product and bringing it to the Canadian and USA market. Al Williams was a brilliant soul & woderful man.
