Silverangels are Dempsey Young "Hutto" tone on a budget. Thumpy and huge sounding.

There is nothing wrong with any Silverangels that I've seen or heard-never played one but along with a handful of other builders I may remedy that in the future! You independent builders must be drinking the right water as things have seriously been upped in the mandolin game!

Your SA sounds great. Definitely have mando envy. I may have to break down and give Ken a call.

I'll agree with all of the comments here regarding SA tone. Mine is warm and very dark. I first played it with a Bluechip TAD60 and switched to a CT55 which brightens it up a little in a way that I really like. Mine fits in a normal case too... always love to play it, and y'all are right, Ken is great to work with!

Spencer, yours is a beautiful SA too, in fact, your videos convinced me that I wanted my own SA!

I know Econos are one of the insanely good values out there, but don't overlook his other fare, like the Fantasma. The F 5s look sweet, and Ken is a master of making a mandolin look old, from well cared for closet queen to thrashed in a BG band for thirty years.

looks beautiful. i recently made a trade for a ratcliffe el toro, and it's both beautiful and one of the best sounding f hole mandolins i have heard. i prefer oval or round sound holes but this one has amazing tone. loud and lots of great rich over tonesClick image for larger version.
