You have my sympathy. Fortunately, I don’t have the condition but my wife does. Although she does not play mandolin she is a retired rheumatolology nurse so she is pretty clued up with the disease. Having said that, I would add that arthritis is not a single condition but a collection of around 250 such conditions. I think her advice would be not to rely on snake oil treatments but to get a professional diagnosis. There are treatments available but arthritic conditions tend to burn out providing you keep the joints moving. Painkillers may make playing more palatable - my wife knits profusely in order to keep her hands mobile!

I have several friends who find relief with CBD oil.

I play dobro & several years ago I could not pick due to arthritic pain. So I sought out an accupuncturist & after 5 treatments, I no longer have any pain in my hands.

There's probably some truth to that. In my left hand, the fingers are fine, but, the thumb and wrist consistently act as an excellent weather forecaster.
