Default Kilin Reece and String Band Revival

Interesting article about traditional Hawaiian string band music. Kilin is the brain behind Pono Instruments, most notably their flat-top octaves but also mandolas, mandolins, tenor guitars, etc. He's an occasional poster here as well.

String Band Revival - Sovereign Strings is breathing new life into nineteenth-century Hawaiian popular music.

Thanks Scott. Great article. I wish they'd provided some links to some of the music discussed, and I'd have liked to hear more about the connection to commissioning the first Martin dreadnaught. I knew the design was based on a hawaiian lap guitar, but it sounds like they've pinpointed the very first one.

I've got a Pona octave mandolin which is fantastic. I had no idea Kilin had so much else going on.
