    Default Built a tenor guitar

Posting a few snaps of my recently (almost) completed tenor guitar….still need to add an endpin and maybe a pick guard. I previously built a 6-string under the tutelage of a local luthier, equally gifted a teacher as he is a builder. I had made a few instruments on my own prior to that experience, but they pretty much went straight from bench to shelf. That guitar, however, is a prize. I wanted to capitalize on my new found knowledge and hone my skills (still with a helping hand here and there). The tenor has always intrigued me, so here it is. I based it on the Martin size-5 Terz, with my sense of aesthetics. 21” scale, currently tuned GDAE. Honduran mahogany body/neck; Macassar ebony fretboard, Cocobolo bridge, Bloodwood binding and peghead.

    Thanks for looking,
    Joe

What a beautiful instrument and most certainly a precious one to keep. We had an old Martin tenor guitar in the shop a few year past that was being sold on consignment. Asking price was too high for an instrument that needed work but it was a joy to listen to. I have an old Gibson LGO that is all mahogany and it is my favorite acoustic guitar. What I see in the pictures here is evidence of high well executed art. You have my respect sir.
