EXCELLENT work Scott - if I didn't know better, I would think that you were working NAMM, and not only reporting it to us!

p.s. - If anybody is taking a vote; I'm sticking with the Ellis 2-point oval hole as my #1 pick.

Sadly it’s way out of my current budget.

Most high end Ellis mandolins end up at The Music Emporium. Anyone interested in that one could not go wrong contacting them first thing Monday morning.

    Great job Scott!
I keep looking at Pava's "F" style, dang it's a fine looking instrument.
Your pics are making it hard.

This is a typo on the spec card. The MDO305 is in-fact a solid Maple. Please excuse the error and except our apology for causing any confusion.

To the Eastman rep- thank you for clearing up the confusion of mahogany versus maple on the octave mandolin. Now, if only you guys could figure out a way to ramp up production to meet the demand for this product.

True Scott, I guess I could just buy one off Reverb, from some store I never heard of and no idea about it’s reputation for customer service. But I would prefer to buy from someone I trust, like Elderly or The Mandolin Store. And they both are out of stock right now. They have both been perennially out of stock on this item almost since they’ve been introduced. It makes no sense to me whatsoever that Billy Bob’s Reverb Music Store in Podunk, Middle of Nowhere has one, but they can’t seem to keep big dealers like the aforementioned supplied. I would love to hear the Eastman rep answer that question directly.

If you haven’t played one multidon, I recommend trying one first. I waited for months for an Eastman octave but ended up returning it after being disappointed.

I've *really* liked my Eastman Octave--picked it up earlier this year. Hopefully your experience was an outlier, Steve.

It will hold me over until that Clark Octave shows up on my doorstep one of these days....

I'd almost guarantee that both Elderly and TMS would take a deposit for the next one to come in

Don, I think the answer that you want from the Eastman rep is found in your own comments. You say you'd rather buy from someone you trust, like Elderly or the Mandolin Store. That is true for many buyers. Thus the unknown seller on Reverb has a model sitting unsold, while the dealers with the good name and reputation sell the models faster than they can get them in.

Eastman can't ONLY supply to a few big dealers - Eastman still needs to spread their stock around the world to stores big and small. My purchase of an Eastman MD315 was due to my running across a small dealer who had one in stock; playing that model did more for my desire to buy than all the Internet comments had done.

The Solid Ground stands interest me too - nice-looking, and look well-made enough to do the job....

Money will put you on the list. Would you really want Eastman to ramp up production? You might get you top carved by a three week new employee.

Don't forget they have violin markets to satisfy too.
