Hey Joe, I hope you see this thread. I’m also curious as I ended up with an f style mandolin built by him. As an inspiring luthier l, I removed the peghead veneer(had the person he made it for’s name on it), all the binding, the frets and the finish. It had the notorious 15th fret hump. I planed it out and radiused the finger board to 7.25”. The jewelry will be super jumbo stainless frets from Jescar. I’m currently re graduating the top to add some recurve around the top and back. The headstock will be thinned slightly in preparation for a ebony veneer front and back to help take care of the broken headstock scroll.I’ll be refinishing it with transtint dyes, she’s getting a cherry ‘burst. I’ll top it all off with a shellac based French polish and a Gibson style stamped stainless tailpiece.
