This seems like a pretty good deal for an entry level F style mandolin. The top is solid.

There is a great review on this page:

...It does not come tuned or ready to play, so it does need to be brought to a store to get the strings tightened and tuned...

I think that's the normal price at Guitar Center, etc.

Normal price at Folkmusician.com too, plus it'll come with a setup.

Having previously owned an upper-mid-range The Loar, when the 310F came out I made a trip to my local GC just to see if I could ever recommend it. Remedying scroll envy with a solid top for the lowest price possible is really the only reason to buy one.

Beware thinking a cheaper mandolin with a scroll will cure scroll envy. It is only throwing gasoline on the fire. I bought the 199.00 MK. It made me want to spend 3k immediately, and forever doubled my mandolin cost. Such is the scroll for me.

If you are looking for a Loar 310 check Reverb. There is a seller selling them for $200. I just bought one myself.

I got one from The Mandolin Store with HSC. Use it on stage for a couple of tunes.

Wanted an f style that "looked" vintage and it has fit my needs well. Check out this thread...

I just unboxed mine. The seller said it was professionally setup before shipping and I believe it. The action is really good. I have been comparing this Loar to my Ibanez M522S-DVS and cannot decide which I like better. They have a different sound, the Ibanez seems brighter but I also like the warmth of the Loar. I guess I will just keep them both ; )
