Thread: Where to find little o-ring donuts for overtone dampener?

Default Where to find little o-ring donuts for overtone dampener?

I have a Weber Aspen that came with a wooden string-dampener that has felt on the bottom to dampen the strings and little thick rubber o-rings that attach it to the strings.

The rubber o-rings are broken and just barely hanging on, so I need to replace them.

I have no idea what the dampener is called or who the maker is so I can't do a websearch.

Does anyone here know what size rubber o-ring is needed?

    Thank you for any help!

The device is called a harmonic damper, and you can get answers about fixing it from Bruce Weber himself at www.montanalutherie.com.

    Great!

    Thank you!

    I'll try that route.

I’ve seen little rubber grommets at ace hardware before.

Ace is one place to check for grommets. If you can't find what you need there, try an auto parts store.

Greg Boyd's has a package of 10 for $5.99. Other online merchants probably have them, too. Try a Google search for "mandolin string dampers" or "mandolin overtone suppressors".

I managed to get in touch with Bruce at Weber and and he said that he has them!

Thank you all for your help!
