Thread: Help. I need information

    Default Help. I need information

My aunt gave me (post death) an old Gibson Mandolin. The inside tag also says “Roy Killgore Grand Rapids Michigan”. How do I find out if it is worth anything and does anyone want to buy it?

Yes, we need pictures. A clear shot of the whole mandolin, front and back; closeups of the front and back of the body, and closeups of the front and back of the head [the part that holds the tuning machines].

Also, see if there is a readable serial number on the Gibson label, or stamped into the back of the head.

It sounds like your aunt would have liked you to learn how to play it.

It is worth cash, yes, but you don’t want to sell it because it’s worth a lot more to you as a mandolin.

Roy Killgore was a fretted instrument teacher and obviously a Gibson dealer. That label probably does not add anything to the value of the mandolin just an interesting fact.
