    Default Drunken Sailor

Does anyone know of a good recording of this song on mandolin or music for a mandolin? I have found a fair few recordings but they are full bands and I can't pick out the mandolin.
    Thanks!

Are you looking for the well known sea shanty ("What shall we do with the drunken sailor etc....") or the hornpipe of the same name (which is related to the song melody, but far more complex)?

This black box should be the pdf, interesting though that the session.org ONLY has one setting of this shanty. I’ve heard a fair number of variations and there on the site there’s even a comment from one person looking for harmonised settings. None that I can find...

Thanks, and yes that is the problem I have. I haven't found anything else out there yet. I don't know if I have the ability to come up with one on my own but I can sure try. I need to find a played version I like. There are some good ones on youtube but like I mentioned they are full bands.

Try checking out Katy Adelson playing it on YouTube, it's on fiddle but since the tuning is the same it's easy to pick out

Whistler I am going to start looking for the hornpipe as well if it is similar.
Atsunrise thanks its a start, but I wonder why there isn't more out there. Maybe a bit too colorful for some? I don't know.
Gunnar thanks I missed that one!

It's a 5-part hornpipe. The first part is built on the same basic melodic theme but highly elaborated. The rest of the parts are quite different.

Here's my band doing it, the mandolin should be loud enough to pick out. It's a slightly modified version, but the main motif is unchanged.

Mandolins: The Loar LM-220; Lyon & Healy Special A #103; Epiphone Mandobird VIII
Violins: 19th century German Steiner copy; NS Design WAV 4; NS Design WAV 5; Reiter Alien II 7-string

I've arranged this for four mandolins or a mandolin a fiddle a concertina and a bouzouki, but haven't recorded it yet, and it's too much work to write out. I'll try to record it within a month though
    Mandolin: Kentucky KM150
Other instruments: way too many, and yet, not nearly enough.

This one of my favorites. I found it and several others on The Session.
