St Anthony...Patron Saint of Lost Items....where is my BC CT55?? I’m kind of lost without it. (Cussing didn’t help me find it).

Only one thing you can do. Buy another. Your old one will materialize shortly after.

I was given a nice Leatherman tool one Christmas. I imagine it was $80 or so. I shortly found it indispensable, carried it around most of the time, always around the house. One day it was just gone, and I haden't left the house since I used it last. Bit the bullet and bought another. One day I had to replace the water valve on the back of my refrigerator. There it was, under it behind an air vent.

Chris from Tucson may be as close to a saint as they come. He sent me a PM that he has a couple extra and graciously decided to send me one! As he said, ‘Pay it forward’.

    Thanks Chris...you’re a gentleman!!

Well if you're already on your knees looking around, may as well try to earn some extra credit while you're down there.

Indeed ..... purchasing another one will usually bring out a lost item. I have gone through this process with both BC picks and Leatherman tools. As such I have given both tools and picks to my children. R/

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Sorry, Al. Bet Chris’s most generous offer will bring it back for sure! Otherwise, prayer would clearly be the way to go

It’s funny, I go through phases. For the past 2 years or so I’ve played almost exclusively BC. Love the CT55 on mando, use TAD 50 on cello and 40 on guitar. I don’t waver too much from TAD40 on guitar, but I oscillate between CT55 and Wegen TF140 on mandolin. The humidity’s been kicking here the past few weeks, and I’m still running 50-55% despite 2 dehumidifiers in action. Switched back to Wegen 2 days ago because I wanted more volume and a little brighter sound, and my main player’s liking it better right now...

I keep a 1 inch cuff on a lot of my jeans because 30 inch inseam in my waist is easier to find than a 29 inch inseam.

Any way, I have temporarily lost a few picks in the cuff, though not recently because these days that is where I check first.

Prayer is more effective when accompanied by a sacrifice or burnt offering. Consider giving up on social media for a week. Alternatively, set fire to a banjo. This will impress the gods of lost picks.

Little known fact...the original last lines to It's a Wonderful Life went like this:

Zuzu: "Daddy, teacher says that every time a banjo is set on fire a mandolin player finds his lost Blue Chip pick."

George Bailey: "That's right Zuzu, that's right!"

Purchasing another didn't help me ! Still missing two and own five !
My two favorite pastimes are drinking wine and playing the mandolin but most of my friends would rather hear me drink wine! Adapted from quote by Mark Twain------supposedly !

I agree with Br1ck. Buy another one, then it'll turn up. That's exactly what happened to me

Anytime I lose anything it will only show up upon me purchasing a replacement.

You know, I think they cut that from the later print in the film, although I understand it's in the original screenplay.

I was installing a new microwave and dropped a part behind the range. Try as I might, I couldn't fish it out. So I pulled out the stove, only to find my engraved BC just sitting there waiting for me.

Strange things cooking on your stove...
I think I can say we are most anxious to hear how the BC came to be there - would you like to share the secret with us?

Wild guess: cooked used strings to make them sound new and forgot to take the pick away from underneath them?

    I FOUND IT!!!!

Rather my grandson found it...and here's where the story gets a bit weird.

My wife made plans for she and I to travel 210 miles to NE Colorado to babysit the grandkids so that our son and DIL could have their first overnighter without the little ones. We had a great time and when leaving and giving hugs all around my grandson picked up the BC and handed it to me. WOW!! For a few moments I couldn't understand what I was holding in my hand!

We can't figure how it got there and after thinking about it for a couple days I'm no closer to understanding how it ended up 210 miles from home. My best idea is that it somehow fell in my shoe and came out when I took them off. Who knows though?

Now, I'm beginning to wonder if there really is a Chris from Tuscon or is he a pseudonym for St. Anthony, the Patron Saint of Lost Things?

And by the way...as pointed out to me by a close friend who once studied at a seminary, St. Anthony is also the Patron Saint of Children! That last thought, that my 3 year old grandson found it made me get a bit choked up.
