Default Seagull S8 Mandolin armrest question?

I have a Seagull S8 Mandolin in the natural colour. I love it but I miss the fact that on my last mandolin I installed and used an armrest. I was wondering if we have any other Seagull S8 users, and wether they had installed armrest on their mando’s?
If not, I would appreciate a lead on armrest makers, so that I may discuss an appropriate rest for my particular Mandolin and colour. Much appreciation in advance.

Why not make your own? You can get violin chin rest clamps from International Violin. All you need to do is cut a piece of wood to the outline that you want the rest to be, carve and sand it to shape, apply a finish and drill holes and glue in the clamps. You can do all of this with hand tools that you may already own, although power tools will speed it up. Oh, you'd also want some very thin cork for the bottom of the rest,to keep it from slipping. Musical instrument repair suppliers have this for woodwind joints.

I see some challenges with an armrest for your mandolin. International violin may not be your best source for hardware. You’ll need at least 29 mm barrels on your hardware. Dov Schmidt might be your best source, but he’s out at present.

It’s a unique shape that rules out most makers. Also the edges are rounded, making it tough to get a good secure fit.

Thank you. I thought that there might be a problem but it never hurts to enquire.
