Thread: Epirote music on mandolin, in standard and modal tuning

Default Epirote music on mandolin, in standard and modal tuning

This music is usually played on laouto (lute), clarinet and violin. At times an accordion accompanies it.

I would call this an open or a modal tuning, but I suppose in Western music this is called a cross tuning. I really wanted to give AEAE a try, but this is an old instrument with no truss rod that just got repaired, so I played it safe by tuning down. Didn't like it at all with a Shubb mando capo on the second fret, so I just played it in G.
