Default Roanoke, VA jams, pickers, etc.

Hello, I'll be spending some time in Roanoke (up from North Carolina) this summer for work. Anyone from the cafe live there? Is there a jam or an event you'd recommend checking out? I play upright bass, mandolin, and guitar. Bluegrass, classic country, and oldtime mostly.

I plan to be at the fiddlers conventions in Mt Airy and Sparta NC this summer as well as the re-start of the Camp Springs Festival Labor Day weekend.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers,

I think there is also a weekly jam in Floyd, but I don't know the details

A little looking shows that there is a Saturday morning bluegrass jam from 10-12 at Hope's Cafe in Garden City. And a Wednesday Old Time Jam at Mill Mountain Coffee in Daleville from 6-9. I know nothing about these except they are closer than Blacksburg or Floyd.

Yes, the jam that used to be at Mill Mt. Coffee in Daleville is now at DesChutes downtown, still on wed. nights.

I'm still bummed about the time I finally made it to the downtown Roanoke Mill Mt. Coffee one Wednesday night only to be told the famous Roanoke old time jam was actually in Daleville, some 13 miles away.

Howdy all, thanks for your replies and info. I have been to the Floyd jam, years ago, and will definitely check out the jam at Deschutes--have to make sure the beer is up to par and everything...

Send me a PM if any of you want to get together and pick. I love backing up tunes on guitar as well.
