    Default top center strip

I am curious if anyone has played around with a center strip in the top. a very thin walnut or rosewood etc right down the center. Is it a structural nono or does it change the top stiffness to much?

I haven't done a center strip, but this one had a fair amount of maple in the top. Can't say that I noticed any real difference in the sound compared to it's all spruce batch siblings.

I don't know... well glued maple strip could pose no problems though this is the most stressed area of instrument (the line along strings) so any differences in expansion/shrinking during humidity cycles may show more than in less stressed areas. Joints between two very different woods may be problematic under long time load. Just speculating here...
