    Question Mandolin Stand Recommendations

I have utilized guitar stands, but I would like a couple of mandolin appropriate stands for at-home use. I am not wanting high end artistic but safe, functional and easy to use for under $30. Is that feasible? Thanks for your recommendations.

My preference has been the Ingles stand for years, Well made. Ignore that hook for the bow. You can lower it or remove it all together.

Ingles makes a great stand. I keep one at the house. For out and about I have a Cooper stand. They fold up and pack well. R/

I'll note that the Ingles folds flat as well. It's a heavy little thing though

I use this Hercules stand. Good - it has a locking mechanism that uses the weight of the instrument to close. Not so good - it's really made for fiddles, so the mando neck is a little wide for it. You have to turn it sideways for it to easily fit in the locking part. For me it's just automatic now, so I wouldn't consider it a deal-breaker. I also didn't remember it being so expensive.

That link takes me to a Gibson bass guitar! That said, mandolins fit nicely into any of the Hercules guitar “gripping” stands. The only one I’ve found not quite right is my Mandostrat which has an offset headstock

Nordic Essentials makes a nice folding instrument stand that will hold a mandolin, a guitar, octave mandolin; very adjustable and folds up nicely. I like mine a lot. It also comes in a bunch of metallic colors. Here's a link to it on Amazon.

I modified a Ultimate GS 100 stand that I had on hand, much like the Hercules stand already mentioned. One thing I like about both these stands is that if you’re using a strap and/or cable they don’t get caught up on the bottom of the stand when lifting the instrument off. Attachment 177363

Ingles is good. I have one that my wife took for her violin so I got a Stagg stand which lacks the stuff on top and is a bit more stable.

It depends on how you want to use it for and how likely pets, children or other family members are likely to knock it over! I’ve got a variety of stands.

One similar to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L2YNY...0-47cd8f41107a very portable, a little fiddly to set up but good looking.

The Stagg does the job well but like the one above your mandolin may be vulnerable if someone knocks into it. But like the one above is compact enough to sit on a shelf or table.

Finally I have a Hercules 3 guitar stand. Mandolins fit in it fine as Ray said and it's probably the safest option short of putting the instruments into their cases. But it’s bulky and my wife wouldn’t describe it as “elegant “.

The other thing about the Hercules triple is that, with care, its possible to adjust one so that it will hold instruments of different sizes at the same time - e.g. guitar, GBOM and mandolin. As to how it looks, my wife wouldn't even describe me as "elegant"!

I love my Ingles and use the bow hook to keep my strap off of the floor.

Looks light, sturdy and folds.

I have three of the Ingles stands and I love them. I got them from International Violin and, if I'm not mistaken, it only took 3 days for them to arrive and they're competitively priced.

That's true but it's a minor drawback for me. I have the mandolins on stands at home. I live alone so there's not a lot of foot traffic. The Ingles even handles my octave and it's almost 10" longer than the others. ♫

Works really well, I appreciate how it folds up small to fit in my gear bag. Tempted to buy a second for my electric.

I have and have had several music stands. I find this Hercules triple to be my favourite.
    https://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...stands&index=4
It is also on sale for the summer! I have no financial interest! In fact I live in Canada where we have no musiciansfriends! I’m just a lonely person!
The Stand whether for 1, 2, or 3 instruments basically takes up the same amount of space!
This is a stable stand and is built very well. I have been using it for years. I would avoid these small compact stands. They are compact but unstable!
    Cheers!

I bought this a few weeks ago. I do not recommend it.

Very unstable. If you have kids or cats this is a disaster waiting to happen.
