Re: Should I take my Eastman MD305 on vacation?
I know, old thread, but this comes up a lot.
So, FWIW, I/we [just] traveled for 3 1/2 weeks, 8 flights from across the pond in a *big* jet (didn't read the card, so don't know what kind) to a 20-seat turboprop and the mandolin went on with me in every flight, and where it might have mattered, we were in the last boarding group and always found space to fit a mando. The mando (small A-shape hard case) and our 2 backpacks took up not much more space than some "carry-ons" we saw folks get on with - though those often got gate checked. Nobody ever even asked if I wanted to gate check it. (Same experience to travels last year with an even bulkier Travelite case, but that one did go in the luggage hold/area on a bus/train, though.)
And, I played in AirBnB's and a hotel room (-s - with the window open) - never had a complaint, but, then, I wasn't banging on the thing until the wee hours, either.
