I posted this link (posted by someone else earlier) on thesession.org, it's a field recording of Paddy Fahy in his home, playing tunes from 1972, a mix of his own and other tunes:

With his own compositions, you can hear his genius in composing tunes that can't be pinned down to a major or minor sound. He liked playing games with Cnats and C# in the same tune.

You have to get used to the way they're all called "Paddy Fahy's." I think it was Kevin Burke that said about him, that it was a great way to be remembered -- not to name your tunes, but just be remembered by the composer.


Makes it a little tough on those who learn these tunes, but at least we get to have fun with the running joke in sessions... "What's that tune?" "It's Paddy Fahy's"... Oh, right!

I remember hearing the Kane sisters in concert and i think the only tunes they played -- for, what 90 minutes? -- were all named "paddy fahey's"
