Default A serious teacher in NYC?

Hi, a new member and long time lurker here. I love this site and thank you for having me. I've had my instrument a few months, working out of "The Complete Mandolinist" book. I'm a lifelong musician, violinist from ages 5 to 20, excellent sight-reader etc. I need to find a teacher who can guide me through the next steps. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

A friend of mine in NYC took lessons from both Barry Mitterhoff and Andy Statman. That was some time ago, but worth looking into. I recall he said the Statman lesson was a bit overwhelming/intimidating (hard to imagine, I know). I think Michael Daves might also offer lessons or workshops of some kind. I have heard he is an excellent teacher. Good luck!
