Default Is this harmful to the Mandolin?

    Hi!
While recovering from yards of nylon stitching strategically placed throughout my body, I came across something I've never seen on a mandolin. I was wondering if it's a bad idea or harms the instrument in some way. The pics are on Ebay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Morgan-Monr...-Made-in-Korea item number 382959974498. If I messed up this address(likely) just look under Morgan Monroe mandolins - there's only one Phantom listed. The anomally I'm referring to is the gold strap button on the inside of the F scroll! Is this common or even practical/safe?
As always, my best wishes to all and many thanks.
    Have a great evening.

As I expected it doesn't come up, but it's definitely there. It's listed at 469.99 with 23 days left. Sorry. Item Number - 382959974498.

It's practical and safe, but kind of redundant. A scroll has often been called a "Strap holder" around mandolin circles. Easy enough to loop a strap around it, and the varnish on the scroll will eventually take a beating, but it's more natural looking than this is, for sure.

Harmful to the senses, not the mandolin.

I believe here has been an accident requiring stitches.

To be more precise, a very sharp X-acto blade coupled with a temporarily suspended carving of a whale and a wayward hatchet uncannily aimed at my forehead via a faulty beltsander. My life is like a Greek tradegy(sic).

Dang, that’s pretty spooky, I trust the bystander was not a friend or spouse? Be safe!

My father had a saying when he would encounter something like this:
“Well. You could tie your mule to the Queen Mary too but, why would you want to?”
That saying comes to me at the strangest times!

Thanks Mike. The irony is I've made literally several hundred, maybe a thousand instruments of different kinds over the period of my life. The only one I'll say anything about was a hand-made Mountain Dulcimer made from the discarded back of a 30's era Martin guitar. The top was spruce used during the time of Noah(it was old) and the sides were Birdseye Maple with an ebony fingerboard. I hand-carved a Peacock, a tiger and several stars and planets all by hand - no lasers, barely any filler. It was sold for 6000.00 before I had it finished. My point, the older I get, seems the faster life is passing me by. BUT - I still can play a mandolin minus my thumb or head!! And to me, that seems to be the important life-lesson.

The latest rage in themed bars down here is axe or hatchet throwing (as opposed to darts). North Carolina doesn't even have the Paul Bunyan heritage. What could possibly fo wrong!
