Default If you're patient...Avi Avital coming to Baltimore

OK, so it's very nearly a year away, but I'm not going to miss this chance to see Avi with the Baltimore symphony.

Actually, the BSO's* whole season is very good for 2019-2020.

Actually the concert venues are in Washington DC (Meyerhoff) and close-into-DC Bethesda MD (Strathmore). The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays a lot of concerts in the DC area.

With 300+ murders/year, a lot of folks have chosen to avoid Baltimore. I'm told by people who are in a position to know, that Fallujah is safer.

The Meyerhoff is in the Mt.Vernon section of Baltimore. That neighborhood doesn't seem bad. We've been there a half dozen times now, with absolutely no problems. There's a good parking garage almost literally a stone's throw away. For evening shows, we've arrived around 6:00,easily found street parking, and had dinner at the funky Red Emma's right across the street. It's vegan, but don't let that scare you away. They have things that will even satisfy a carnivore like me.

There is no refugee crisis of people fleeing Baltimore. BTW, don’t visit New Orleans if statistics scare you, the murder rate is substantially higher. It matters where you go and who you hang with.

There has been English Country Dance meeting in central and near-north Baltimore for many years and we have lost no one to violence. One member of the Baltimore symphony is the prolific dance-tune composer Jonathan Jensen.

In the Rockville/Bethesda area Strathmore is a beautiful hall for symphonic music, and a lovely neighborhood.
