    Smile Finished at last

Way back in January I posted a load of questions abou A style mandos as I wanted to build one. My target was to have it completed by 19th May. Well, here we are 19th of May and I take off for Canada today for a fortnight of ceilidh music in the Prairies - complete with my new (1st) mando.

Many thanks to all those who answered my questions and contributed to the discussions in general.

Here are a couple of photos of the offending article!

    Cheers
    Jeremy

Beautiful work. Its like a mullet - creamy business up front, wild tiger party in the back. I hope its sound is as pleasing!

Nicely done! Even if you've done nothing else since January, that's still pretty good going.

Mike, the back is a 45 year old piece of violin wood that I have had for 20 years and the front is a similar aged piece of Sitka spruce.
The mando sounds great straight out of the box, very easy to play with even sound across all strings.
I adapted the GLS plans for a 12th fret joint with ramped f/board extension and X-bracing. After three days playing I decided to thin the neck down as it was too bulky. Now it is even easier to play!
It has been well received by my friends here in Canada. I'm already planning the next one using the lessons learned from #1.
