Replacement Pickup for Mandocaster

Needing some input/opinion. Are there any stacked humbuckers that can be tapped to single coil (or vice versa) by wiring to a push/pull tone pot? I'm not very versed in electric instruments but I think this is what I want. Any info is appreciated. I have a mandocaster re-ish that is fun to play but I think I'd like to have more tricks in the bag. I am aware of Steve Ryder and his stuff looks cool. Thanks in advance!

Does it have to be a stacked HB? There are twin blade HB pickups that will drop into a single coil space that can be wired through a push/pull pot for hum/sing options. DiMarzio makes one. So do others like Seymour Duncan, etc.

Don't see that pickup on the Seymour Duncan site, in fact, there are no mandolin pickups on that site except the 'antiquity mandolin pickup'. "But they can make a customized pickup just for you..."

Seymour-Duncan made a telecaster-style mandolin pickup for me. I don't think they sell directly to the consumer. I special-ordered mine through Sweetwater and it was reasonably priced.

I'm working with Cafe member Pete Malinson at Almuse (http://www.almuse.co.uk/mandolin_pickups.html) on a humbucker for my electric tenor guitar. A nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet, and really responsive to inquiries. He makes a replacement Mandocaster pickup that others on the site say is great. NFI.

I figure it will have to be special made and no I don't suppose it has to be stacked. It looks smaller than 6 string guitar pickups lengthwise.

Steve Ryder’s stacked singles are my favorite, but tapping would only yield a weaker signal with hum. Different tone is what tone controls and pedals are for.

A side-by-side humbucker sounds different, and darker/fatter/louder than a tapped coil from it, so there is a point in switching choices. But it can’t give a single-coil tone along with hum cancellation. Stacked singles do that, and a boost or EQ pedal can yield that fat humbucker tone when wanted.

You can get a fatter tone with a hollow body and/or moving the pickup away from the bridge. The Bigsby’s have a 17 fret neck and the Michael Smith’s have a 15 fret neck. Even with a single coil.
