What are you trading for this mandolin ollaimh? Depends on the trade as this F-5 is going to take some $$$ to put it back together again.Whose autograph is it sporting? Also, if you're considering having this re-voiced, there should be some cost savings because the back is already half removed. Nice looking mandolin btw that could turn out to be a real winner. My go to mandolin is a 1956 F-12 that has a '70's era factory neck replacement. It was sent off to Randy Wood 11 years ago for his re-voicing and I am very happy with the results. The only downside is the '70 era triple binding on the head stock is crumbling off over the past few years.

thanks, i would be into it for around $2000 usd. i am thinking too much, especially as my fantastic repair man is very ill, maybe be done with repairs. so i have to find another near here or send it to the usa(i am in canada). i don't know if it's worth it or not. dithering.

i sure hope my repair guy recovers, and jujst for this. it is great to have repair genious living near by .

I'm thinking it would be worth ~ $3.5K (maybe more) once the work is done, plus factor in the satisfaction of making this mandolin sing again. Of course, you would have to place a "worth" to you before going forward with a trade. Well wishes to your repair guy!!

thanks on behalf of don fitzsimmons, repair man extrodinaire.

i might keep it if it comes out well, and i like the sound. i might sell. but i'll probably need to find another repair guy. don is the guy for recarving from the inside and putting in traditional bracing. most guys could fix the binding
