Default Maybelle Carter would have been 110 today.

No direct mandolin content but worth remembering.

So really, her birthday was yesterday, so she is older than I thought.

Maybelle also played mandolin and banjo.
Her influence on country music was enormous.
Note her rock-steady sense of time.
It has been said by people in the know that her daughter Helen inherited all of her mother's ability. She is also gone now.
I sometimes wish that women of the Addington blood-line [Maybelle's maiden name] had lived a bit longer.

Carter style is named for her innovative playing. Never saw her play before. Different from what I would have thought.

She also fingerpicked in what later was called "Travis style," played slide guitar, and used a flat pick from time to time.
