Thread: MC Players of Irish Traditional Music - Feedback Wanted From You!

Post MC Players of Irish Traditional Music - Feedback Wanted From You!

    Dear all,

I'd be very grateful if any of you (specifically those who live in North America and play Irish traditional music in your repertoire) would take a few minutes for this research survey that I'm conducting at the Library of Congress since January this year (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NSZRG63).

The survey is part of a larger project where I am researching the audio collections at the American Folklife Center. Some of the data sets that we have developed already contains a few mandolin tracks from old recordings and festivals which I am sure would be of interest to people on here, and I aim to post about it on this thread once my project is finished.

The research is looking at how performers use audio files on the internet. More about this project can be found here: https://blogs.loc.gov/thesignal/2019...-music-at-afc/

Thank you for your feedback in advance.

    All the best,
    Patrick Egan

I look forward to your future post; I teach research methods and supervise research, so when I see a study on a topic of interest I check it out.

Took the survey. As someone who is recently getting his feet wet with ITM, this question on the survey was very useful:

Delighted with MC response so far, great help to the survey. We are up to 400 at this point. If you haven't filled it in, here is another chance to do so: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J7FSNXV

I filled it out, even though I'm not in north America, hope it doesn't mess your results up

Just filled it out. I always like to contribute to such research. Though I don't focus on Irish music, as a player of Canadian traditional fiddle music, there's a great deal of Irish in my repertoire.
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."
