    Transferred from another location...

My "New-To-Me" Irish Bouzouki, made 30 years ago at a little shop in Bozeman, Montana.

    It's a Flatiron 3K Zouk circa 1988.

I tuned it to ADAD, started messing around with it and came up with this little minute-long riff.

Congrats, I bought my birds eye maple zouk brand new in the early 90’s? From mandolin bros.
    Or was it late 80’s....

Very nice! I'd love to see pics.

Mine is Koa. It has become my #1 for session playing. It cuts really, really well.

Catchy tune. Nice chord progressions. I won't judge your instrument but I really like those harmonics and triplets. What I mean to say is you are fortunate to exist in a state of "smooth."

I will see if I can find pics, yes I agree. My 3M flatiron zouk is a beast. In session it is a lovely thing.
I used to play it every week live. It is put up for now, I haven’t played it for over a year. Still won’t sell it though.

those have a great woody tone. i had one years ago but sold it long ago. it had neck troubles. many lack adjustable truss rods.

Good point. Luckily, this one has a truss rod as it needed some tweaking. The action was quite high when I got it.

Actually, I was still a little worried after 3-4 days of adjusting the truss rod; I couldn't get a good balance between the 2nd and 12th fret gaps. Fortunately, after a couple more little tweaks and a lighter set of strings (D'Addario EJ81's) it settled right in.

It has its own sound/tone thing going on. I find it has a much more mid-high cut than a lot of similar instruments I've played.

It has a great zouk "Jangle" to it that I find I am really liking. It sits nicely in the middle of a session when things are humming along.
