Default whoa, i like the looks of this 2 point in the classifieds

NFI, just browsing around and always look at particular builders instruments, and oh my......this is just a tough looking mando. Looks beautiful but all business.

and it has all the good stuff:
    Adirondack spruce top
    Flamed maple back and sides
Triple tortoise bound with white accent line
    Varnish finish
    Radius ebony fingerboard
    1 1/18 Nut
    Bound pickguard

I've never had the chance to play or even hold a Kimble, hope to one day. Same thing for Ellis, Heiden, Campanella, Apitius,Sumi, and Giacomel .

I’m a fan of 2 pointers and I think that Kimble makes my favorite, aesthetically speaking. That one is certainly a fine example!

Hitting the Classifieds button is addictive and leaves me empty. Especially when I see one like this...and know I'll never own it.

There are too many contenders worthy of our consideration to count. That is certainly one of them.

Please, somebody buy those Kimble's; there is too much mando-pornography in the classified ads. I can feel MAS rearing its ugly (for my bank account) head! Great looking and, if they are like other Kimbles, sounding instruments.

I did my part by purchasing the first one shown on this thread from Dennis at The Mandolin Store. Should be here tomorrow.

Now somebody else do THEIR part and buy the other one!!

That one sounds great - it's being sold by someone who used to live around here and I remember it well.

I just got an email from a friend who not six months ago bought the guitar of his dreams. He's online looking again. The disease is alive and well.

There are a few Kimbles in the classifieds including a two-point mandola. I have played a good handful of Kimble mandolins and he is in my top builder list.

    I certainly will.

Took a trade from my end plus cash to get the deal done. Dennis at the Mandolin Store could not have been nicer or more helpful.

The waiting is the hardest part.

I'm pretty sure that one was in the store hanging in the corner just above the desk when I visited TMS a few weeks ago. I really wanted to give that one a go but I had pretty much played everything else in the store that was drool worthy. I was happy just getting a good look at it up close. Congrats!

I'm still dreaming of that Terse shaped Pono OM that took me by surprise.

Yeah, the waiting. Pete Hart is working on a Buckeye for me right now. "You take it on faith, you take it to the heart..."
Play that which you feel is groovy, get down with your bad self, and shake your money maker if it makes sense for you to do so.

Okay, I've had it for a day now. I'm not great at describing things like this, so forgive me if it seems a little vague, but these are my impressions of it so far.

FULL. A very full town. When playing chords, every note jumps out and blends in well. I wouldn't stop and think 'too tinny' or 'too bassy'. It seems to my ear that it is a VERY well rounded instrument.

Picking notes is equally as much fun. They seem to be 'right there', if that makes sense. No delays, no missing tonal qualities, nothing that would make you say "if only it....".

To be honest, I didn't expect it to be this satisfying an instrument, but it truly is. I'm very happy for this purchase, and feel extremely lucky that it worked out for me. I'm VERY curious to hear other Kimble instruments live and not on a computer to hear if there are any differences.

I also like the fact that this guy is from 2004 - a 15 year old instrument - so the wood has settled in nicely. A very stable looking and sounding mandolin.

And a VERY special thanks to Dennis and Brian at THE MANDOLIN STORE. To say they were helpful in every way possible is an understatement. Their knowledge and customer focused attitude made it a great experience.

Will's two-points are exceptional, and I think he nails that design aesthetic better than any other luthier, and I'll stand on Tom Ellis' coffee table in my cowboy boots (to paraphrase Steve Earle) and say so!
