SO. I really wanted a SA as my first mandolin, but I convinced myself that it was crazy to spend so much without knowing if I would like mandolin. and that was before I found mandolin cafe and discovered how much folks loved them. I have my Morris flattop and love it, that's a forever kind of thing. But I've watched the classifieds and pondered and weighed and wondered, and today I ordered an Econo A from Ken.

BTW, my first was a rogue. I still like it and has a place in my playing time. had it outside today in the wind and the dirt and the pollen, serenading the trees.

I think you have to know yourself and your proclivity to stick with things or not. I think if you have played other instruments you have a very good idea that you can get over the first hurdle. But even then I bought an Eastman used, and even though it lasted just three months, it was a worthwhile thing to do. It's all the process you have to go through. I'd applaud someone jumping in at whatever price point you are comfortable with, except maybe not a Rogue, but that's just me.

If someone wants to start with a SA, A Collings, or an Ellis, go for it.

I don’t know, but Ken says he’s shipped often enough to Europe, so we’ll see. He sent me photos yesterday. This isn’t helping.

HaHa! It must be killing you. Well, I am sure it will be there soon. If he uses DHL or etc. it will come pretty fast once he ships. Post some pictures if you can, also.

Will do, but ... customs. Who knows how long it will sit there.

Hi Doc, no, it’s in final assembly. It will take some time.

Guess I'll be joining the club before too long.

Should be a nice contrast in tone to my amazing Girouard.

Bought a Fantasma from Ken a couple of months ago-redwood top. I have never played anything that sounds better, no matter the cost. It truly is the perfect mandolin combining price and performance.
