Default Mando Fret work in SF/Marin?

Anyone know where to get a good re-fret job done on mandolin in Marin or San Francisco?
I am in San Rafael, but I don't mind driving a bit.
I would like an expert as it is a nice mandolin.
    Any suggestions are appreciated. .

That would be my first inclination. Second would be a drive to Gryphon.

    Good calls.
I love Schoenberg. Great store, but I didn’t think of it for repair.
I’m guessing they would know who to call if they don’t do it.

Gryphon is a good idea too.
It is a bit of a drive from Marin, but I would like to check out the Northfield A5 Special they have at the moment.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Eric is all dialed in to have done any kind of repair but also John at Amazing Grace in San Anselmo is also very good.

That Northfield A 5 Artist is as good a reason as any to drive to Gryphon. But it would be dangerous, as you would play it then have a week or two for MAS to rot your brain before going back to pick up your mandolin.

On the up side, when I had my Silverangel there for a minor tweak, I was able to compare side by side with the big boys and went away pleased. Not cured mind you, but not feeling deprived either.

But you could leave happy with your old mandolin, and happy with your new one too.

Lewis Santer - he has his own shop in the Oakland but also works out of SF Guitarworks over on Potrero between 16th and 17th.

I played the Northfield A last week, it's a good one, really liked it. But it was my second favorite in the store. Number 1 for me was the Collings MFO.

BTW, I got a tour of the shop area from Frank Ford, who is as nice as he is helpful!

Both the MF gloss top in the Merlot finish, and the MF Deluxe had me going nuts.

But I keep thinking what that amount of money would buy used.
