if there was a crack, and it was known and seen while inspecting the mandolin, Greg Boyd would have listed that info in the description. That man is as honest as the day is long. Stellar shop with excellent customer service before and after the sale.

There are many reasons a good instrument will not sell...price being one of them. I finally sold my Taylor guitar after many months. It sat because of price. I kept getting low ball offers from non serious people.

My old 82 X-braced Gil F-5 is at Shoenberg Guitars for sale "NFI" It is a pretty good one, the X bracing gives it a fatter/thicker sound than tone bars, One reason I got rid of it is that's not my sound I like. I'm a tone bar fan! Its pretty close to what Ronnie McCoury's Gil is like in sound I think, His is a few #'s before I believe?

These are my hieroglyphics over the last 6 months for asking prices for Gilchrist. Date of sale, location, model year, Serial number ,and asking price. I have some how committed to #794 in his new batch. MAS ouch.

I've played it a couple times on different occasions during its tenure at Greg's. It's a fabulous mandolin, tremolo up the neck sounds like a dream!

also, NFI. just a great instrument.

Only one bid on that ... reserve not met. A bit tricky for those of us on the opposite side of the pond.

Didn't sell in the first pass, but was relisted and sold a couple days later. Looked it up in the Gilchrist archive and note it was built in a batch of instruments alongside F models for Ricky Skaggs and Aubrey Haynie. It has an owner label saying it was made for Mick Carney—anybody here know of him?
