Any suggestions on how to tighten up a tailpiece cover that keeps falling off?
Any suggestions on how to tighten up a tailpiece cover that keeps falling off?
Remove the tailpiece cover. Place a strip of leather or a few layers of paper towel (to act as a caul, and protect the finish) over the jaws of a set of pliers. Using the pliers, gently bend the side of the tailpiece inwards by a small amount (these are the sides that grip the base). Then, repeat this process on the other side. Try on the tailpiece. It should slide on all the way, but present a certain amount of resistance. If it's still loose, bend in the sides just a hair more, until the sliding fit is fairly tight.
I like to only bend the last 1/8" so it locks in place, but comes off easy.
