    Default Ebay 1907 Gibson?

This one looks like a Bruce Wei inlayed fingerboard was added. The headstock looks funky as well.

and what's with the headstock on this one?!!

There’s a lot that looks weird about it, peghead scroll is way too weird, tailpiece, finish looks far too bright, serious overspray if even that, I’d stay away.

I think you have, in the first case, a 1907-sh Gibson 3-point F-2 body, and God-knows-what else. Definitely oversprayed, replaced (and odd) tailpiece, major headstock joint repair, replaced fingerboard, still with original Handel tuners, and a recent Fiberglas case.

Nowhere near $3K value, IMHO, but if acquired at a reasonable price, could be coaxed back into close-to-original state. Not for me to attempt.

The seller's florid prose is another warning sign. Three-point F-2's are not superb bluegrass mandolins, as a rule; I bought mine to have a really neat oval-hole to play in a Celtic band.

I won't be surprised if this one sells, even at the inflated price, since "Gibson F" and Handel tuners are demand stimuli. I ain't buyin', though.

yeah they look really cool, but not the best tone for bluegrass or even as good as oval holes from just a few years later.

Those years the neck sets are fairly shallow, I think the teens sound way better as the neck set is deeper. My opinion anyways.

The 1907 mandolin's price has now been reduced by $700.

The F2 started out a few weeks ago at $6500 BIN price with an opening bid starting like $4500. No bids, duh. It's been there awhile and lower each time it comes back, with no bids.
