This is the first thread I clicked tonight. I don't quite hear you hit the notes, so much as feel the wave hit me. Playing with your eyes clothed helps you achieve this effect, no doubt. Will have to study. Bravo!

Thanks Frantic, We played the grooves off a Kicking mule Duck Baker ( finger style guitarist) album back in the day, Duck was very much about the right hand, and while I venture into "Thrash" mando I've always liked the lilt of this tune and the hard edges Duck introduced ( going to the F in the 2nd section) , O'Connor, Ma, and Meyer did the same thing with "She moved through the Fair" on their Appalachian Waltz album.

I had to look up Eddie Furey,
in truth I was never a big fan of the Van Halen style, impressive yes, musical? to me not very.
I saw them when I was like 14 they had just started touring for the first album.
They basically ran out of songs, did some long David Lee Roth vamps with his squeaks and pops and gymnastics, but even at 14 it was not doing it for me.
More of an Iommi, Page, Blackmore, Hendrix, Young ( Neil and or Angus) kind of rocker...

Admittedly, I am not much of a heavy metal connoisseur - it was just a convenient name that popped into my head. I hope I haven't offended your sensibilities too deeply . But the rock lead guitar influence is evident. You must have some power in your left hand to play so many notes on a mandolin with so few pick strokes, what with double strings and no overdrive!

On the contrary - not offended at all- delighted actually! I grew up listening to heavy rock, not traditional Celtic or Bluegrass or Folk, so it most certainly is part of my musical pallet and certainly shows in my playing.
While I have refined my tastes a bit over time, I still go back and am awed buy guys like Iommi, Page, Hendrix, too many to name here.
