maybe of interest to someone-Gibson A-1 Mandolin - Orange - 1922

NFI with regards to this. I was browsing as a friend is wanting a used Martin guitar they have and he requested my thoughts(the guitar appears to be very nice-tone wise).
was looking around and saw Mandolin and took a peak. I have zero knowledge regarding these older Gibsons-if it is all original-or not, its a pretty thing.

With a serial number of 11697, maybe it’s a 1912 instead of a 1922?

1911, actually, according to Spann's.
Tuners, guard, bridge, and tailpiece appear to be correct for the period, including the early violin style pickguard clamp.

Bridge looks pre 1922. Looks a good buy at $1199. Too much hassle for me as I'm in the Uk

As already noted, it is from 1911, not 1922. The case depicted is not an "original hardshell case": it's not original and it's a bit of a stretch to refer to a chipboard case as "hardshell." The $1199 price tag sounds semi-reasonable until you consider that it needs a fret job.
