Headed up to DFW for a couple of shows and wondering if anyone knew of any mando or even just acoustic instrument shops to check out in the metroplex.
Austin I know, but DFW I don't.
Thanks in advance!

Charley's in Dallas usually has at least a few legit acoustics and sometimes some Collings mandolins.
The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney (just outside Dallas) is supposed to be pretty awesome, though I've not been.
Fiddle and Bow in Dallas keeps a few mandolins around, I think.

Charly’s is a nice small store in Dallas to visit.
The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney is really nice. I live in McKinney and visit them every now and then. They have a lot of high end acoustic and electric guitars. They don’t have a very big selection of mandolins, I bought my Eastman mandolin from them a few years ago. They have a really nice venue for small concerts and I got to see Sierra Hull there a few years ago. It was an AWESOME show!!

Great suggestions!
Going to Google maps to find these places. Will have most of the day Saturday to visit shops.

BTW, acoustic guitars are also in play!
Especially Martin, Collings, Gibson, etc.

Murphy’s Music in Irving is a great shop. Cheap mandolin selection but they have a legit acoustic guitar selection. The owners are great folks too.
Texas Guitar Ranch in Bedford has a pretty nice acoustic room too. I’ve seen some higher-end Breedloves in there.
Have fun and report back. DFW is a great place.

I was in Murphy's on Sunday! Sadly, I only bought picks.

Murphy's usually has a nice selection of Taylors and Martins on the wall. I played a D18 there not too long ago that was one of the best guitars I've ever had my hands on. They carry Seagull and Breedloves too. All that stuff is in the higher-end room. On the larger wall outside is all the lower-end stuff. Very cool place.

Every time I've gone into Murphy's, they have the same 2 mandolins on the wall. Think they now have a 3rd. It's not the place to mando shop. However, they have a great selection of acoustic and electric guitars along with a very respectable selection of other instruments. I enjoy going there and browsing with my grandson. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Check out their website. The pics represent the full array of instruments.

I only had time on Saturday to visit one store, so I drove out to McKinney to Guitar Sanctuary.
Wow, what an amazing place. No mandos to speak of (one Eastman), but the acoustic guitar selection, with the Martin and Collings brands, was excellent. I played a number of different guitars, and had a great time. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
Finally got to play a Collings Traditional (baked top, hide glue) D18, and now I know what the fuss is all about. Jaw-dropping good.
And the Dallas traffic was not nearly as bad as I imagined it might be. Even I-20 had its lean moments!
