    Default I Found It!

I was installing a new over the range microwave today, of course I promptly dropped one of the mounting bolts, and it fell behind the stove. I pulled it out from the wall to retrieve the bolt and much to my surprise, I found a Blue Chip pick hiding in the dust bunnies.

It's an engraved CT55, and it has to have been hiding there at least 5 years or more. I knew I was missing one, but for the life of me I can't figure out how it got there. But it sure made my day when I saw it.

Yeah, I thought of that. I guess it's possible. Or it could be aliens. Friendly ones.

What do you perceive as the difference between cats and friendly aliens? They're one and the same.

Blue chips naturally crave the safety of a pick case. If they are left in an open light filled space for a long period they will gravitate towards an environment close to that of the inside of a pick case- namely a dark restricted space.

Apart from being self lubricating and quick off the strings, a much under publicized aspect of the Vespal polymide from which they are made is their ability to utilise a crude type of pseudopodial movement (similar the amoeba) to move itself to their ideal environment.

Hence the slew of threads similar to the op, finding picks under cushions, behind stoves etc. You are not losing the picks - they are losing themselves.

(Atleast thats my story and Im sticking to it)

I lost a V-Pick sometime back I'd gotten at Carter's in Nashville. Had my first name on it. Only pick I've lost that I regret I cannot find.

Picks seem to travel very far on hard floor surfaces when accidentally dropped and kicked. I never find anything good behind appliances.

Chris Thile was cooking dinner for you about 5 years ago. That has to be the only explanation.

I once carried an old couch out to the curb and two Red Bear picks I had long ago lost stumbed onto the street. Been using them again for two years.

I wonder if they're the reason I seem to have more picks in my drawer every time I look. Haven't had to buy any in years. They're the 65-cent ones.

Four of my picks took an unexpected 3-day sabbatical earlier this week . . . thanks to, (you guessed it) - cats!

For some reason, this pick has occupied a lot of time and space inside my brain today. I keep thinking about it, and wondering just how in the heck it got there. I guess this will just end up be one of life's mysteries because I'll never know for sure how it found it's way into that unlikely hiding space. And I'm becoming ok with not knowing, it kinda makes it fun.

Cheap picks multiply like rabbits in dark places, and expensive picks get lost. I too lost a V-pick I bought to try somewhere, and I have no idea where. Maybe it will show up sometime.
