    Default Strings for 19" mandola

I read the thread on 17" mandola strings with interest. I have a mandola with a 19" scale length tuned cgda. What strings would folk recommend for this instrument? (It still has the original strings on - no idea what sort)

    Wow. Hmmm
I have a Weber Alder No. 2 mandola wit ha 17" scale length. With D'Addario EJ80s (0.12- 0.46) I can tune it anywhere from standard CGDA up to EBF#C#.
I use the same set on my 19" scale length octave mandolin, and I tune that to GDAE. So you're gonna need something just a little lighter I would think. Have you tried standard mandolin strings (11-40)?

A set of OM strings gets you 3/4 of the way there. Now you just need to find the right gage for your C course. I would use a string calculator and start around .052.
