Sam Bush goes way up the neck with his pick. Wouldn't be surprised to see facial wear on the scroll after a lot of that kind of play, resting the base of the thumb there to pivot.

Strange . . . I love the look of lots of honest play wear on a mandolin - but not so much on any other instrument. Go figure.

Aside from a few dings on the back, here's the only wear on my '23 A2. At one point it was my only mandolin and I have had it for about 34 years. I avoided Statman wear by playing with the pickguard/fingerrest. OTOH I don't play anywhere near as well as AS.

I've posted these before -- my snake came with some pretty honest wear, although the back is pretty clean.

Did your snakehead come with the aluminum bridge saddle? I've always wanted to hear one of those but thought that they were more common on the earlier ~1921 era paddleheads.

My black snakehead net yours a few years ago. They got along just fine.

And I've got to add that I met Randi's snakehead just a couple of months back and it is an amazing instrument. What a gem you have there, Randi!

    Best wishes,

Pheffernan -- the bridge does, indeed, hark back to 1921, for all the body is from 1923, and i love the sound! It really is a special instrument.
