    Default Thile Pick Grip

This may have been posted here in the past (I remember a post like this once before) but couldn't find it. Either way a great performance of a great song and in the beginning from about 0:08 to 0:46 you get a great look at Chris' picking hand, how lose he holds the pick, the type of pick and the angle...

This is interesting. I was thinking he was a curled finger player. Also a lot of his pick is exposed.

Do you think he uses a different approach with faster pieces?

    Thanks for that, Jeff.

In the instructional video he has the perfect curl in his fingers, with his middle finger just slightly extended beyond the others. The only time he extends his fingers is when he is showing us what not to do! In the OP video, his fingers are extended and he even taps the top with his finger tips. I guess he's chosen a percussive vibe on that one over strictly proper technique?

He changes his grip at about 0:47. Look at it near the end and it is more standard.
