Tenor Baritone Guitar

This is not a misprint, but a new offering from Eastwood Guitars. The tenor baritone is a four string guitar tuned in fifths, pitched an octave below the tenor tenor guitar. Putting it another way, it starts with a C below the standard low E on the guitar.

The scale length is 26 inches. The price is $699. Dot on the 9th fret, not the 10th though.

BTW, Eastwood has several varieties of tenor-like instruments and has a handy page of tuning alternatives with suggested string gauges.

Longer than that: I've had mine over 2 years, and I got it used. Looks like they do offer it in a new color though, "desert sand".

I love it - on the neck pickup. Big, deep, clear tone, really brings out the body of the cello range. The bridge pickup doesn't do much for me, kind of anemic and only serves to undercut the boom of the lower register. That's partially a matter of taste, I'm sure, but it is a reverse of the typical 2p setup where it's the bridge pickup that packs the bigger punch.

I'm not a fan of the wide string spacing Eastwood uses on most of its tenors but in this case it works, since single notes & double stops work so well on it, compared to 4-string chord strumming.

I took it to Jake Wildwood for a setup a while back and he did a nice writeup on it.

Yeah. And interestingly they do a "mandocello" which is effectively a more typical bouzouki scale length. Which I'd tune zouk style it were me.
That said... Capo this baritone for some OM tuning fun.
