Default Northfield NF-F5S in black or blonde?

I keep eyeing the F5S line for a possible step up, but have yet to see a black or blonde version for sale, either new or used. I understand why the sunburst would be the popular choice, but the black (with the beautiful contrasting brown pickguard) and blonde (with Tortoise binding) versions are so pretty. Do black and blonde options ever hit the stores? Are they only available upon order from Northfield?Click image for larger version.

I know that Avenue Guitars has had the black topped ones in the past https://www.avenueguitars.com/ Looks like they are out of stock at the moment.

The Music Emporium usually has a blonde. I was just getting ready to buy one they had and it sold a couple days ago.
Northfield sure does a good looking blonde.

I got my blonde from Gryphon Strings. Fiddler's Green usually stocks a black top. They are definitely out there.

    Blondes look good.
Blacktops, especially gloss, are to me like black cars. Look really great for about 2 minutes after a wash & wax. Then you gotta worry about water spots, fingerprints, chips, etc.
I think I might like a matte finished blacktop better than gloss. (Sorta stealth.) Just me.

Full disclosure: I have a Northfield Model M blonde.

When you get to banging on it you’ll forget all about that purty finish. Lp

This just showed up in the classifieds today........

I realize that it is a Big Mon and not a NF-F5S but it is a fine looking mandolin.

    Wow, thats a beauty!

I'll throw in my 2c, i've purchased from John and Sean(father and son) for a couple years(mandolins, banjo, guitars), and i've always been exceptionally pleased with the item i receive. John used to build mandolins and has high praise for Northfields(so do i).

I just picked up a beauty of a player/looker, in a Nechville Custom Atlas(open back banjo) from Avenue. Almost forgot, picked up a great little MT Collings a few months back also.

These folks have excellent customer service after the sell, in the event you need it.

good luck, and keep us posted on what you get

Hope this link works but Northfield posted a picture on their FB page of a new color. This is (IMO) a pretty sweet color - Iceland brown. https://m.facebook.com/northfieldman...466760/?type=3
