    Default Andrew Mowry article

We are really fortunate here on the high desert of central Oregon to have a very vibrant acoustic music scene as well as some truly gifted instrument builders. Among the best of the builders is Andrew Mowry who builds amazing instruments and his dedication to his craft is second to none. His work is flawless and tonally his mandolins are amazing in all regards.

Recently, in our alternative newspaper here in Bend, there was an article featuring Andrew and I thought I would share it with the mandolin community. NFI although I do own (and love) one of his mandola's that is a joy to play.

    Cheers to all.

Always good to see builders get some media exposure, and Andrew certainly deserves it!

(I hope Andrew is happy with the article, it can be so hard to end up with a edited piece that is pertinent and accurate.)

Thanks Jim and John! Yes, it's always interesting to see how those things turn out, and the passing comments that get picked up on. I'm never one to complain about free publicity, though!

The only thing that tops the high quality of Andrew's instruments is how nice a person he is. The credit and attention are well deserved.

Hi Andrew—I’ve followed your work for years at long distance and was delighted to see this article! Your instruments suggest a deep understanding of traditional building along with an understated modernist sensibility. Keep building them great! —Richard

I was still back in California when I first saw one of Andrew's instruments..... A customer was looking at Eastman's (apparently for a beater), when they ask if I wanted to see something... Sure, I say.... So I open the case and think wow, this is a nice looking Mandolin... Then I played it... no wait, this is an incredible mandolin! At that point I had never heard of a Mowry, but I looked him up as soon as the customer left...
